This week marks the one-year anniversary of the eQuipping for eMinistry blog. Every six months I like to publicly acknowledge those who have contributed to this ministry for the past six months.

THANK YOU
To my Sovereign Lord, Jesus Christ, for His guidance and direction and for giving me a passion I can pursue to His glory.

To my husband, Mike, for encouraging me to “sow resources for women so they might enhance their ministries through technology.”

To Judy Douglass for encouraging me to be all God has designed me to be.

To the guest authors who have helped post great content for e4e:

We received a dozen prayer requests from our donor team recently.  If you are like us, you might get an occasional letter or eMail with a prayer request or you might ask for prayer requests when you phone your donors, so we were very happy at their response.

How we did it

We have our own “response form” that we enclose in fund appeals.  The last two lines are for prayer requests, but we don’t necessarily get many requests this way.  We enclosed this fund appeal form in with our appeal letter, but because of our very busy summer, we decided to make two versions of our fund appeal this year.  One version was obviously a direct request while the second version was the same content written as a prayer letter, that is, we asked for prayer to find new donors.  The letter closed with this postscript: We hope you will mail a prayer request to us in the envelope we have provided.   It’s a great privilege to pray for you, and thank you so much for praying for us!”

Enclosed with this prayer letter was the p...

The first blog tour for eQuipping for eMinistry is now over.  Thanks to all who participated!  I plan to do this again.  Right now I’m thinking of doing this annually every February and/or doing mini themed tours throughout the year.

One problem with this initial tour is I did not provide a way to notify people who would want to follow the tour as each new post was added.  The only solution I can see for this is to have the authors post a comment when their blog is featured.  Readers would then:

  • follow the feed for the comments,
  • know when new posts were published,
  • know which posts they would be interested in.

I changed the Out-of-This-World portion of the tour.  In the future, this part of the tour will list posts from our staff who are guest authors on non-CCC sites.

I also recently added a tab at the top of the blog so it is easier to go to the current blog tour.

If you missed part of the tour, click here to read some great posts by Campus Crusade for Christ staff.

What did you like about the to...

After thirty-plus years on staff, we have given our donors various gifts:  “Jesus” DVDs, books, CDs, bookmarks, flowers, candles, and more.   So, what was I going to do about our long-term major donors who have already received a half-dozen gifts over the years?  I decided to make a calendar of some of our best photography.   I have a little more extra time over the summer (or more than I would have in November and December) so I’ll start working on the calendars this month.  I’m going to make one calendar and then I will order six or so calendars every November for the next five years (to spread the cost out).  In this way, I will have given a calendar to all thirty of our top donors by 2015.  Mike and I love photography as a hobby, so we should be able to have enough nice photos for a calendar.

I’ve been making calendars using Snapfish.com for family Christmas gifts for the past several years.  I like the 8 1/2 x 11 inch calendars.  Snapfish has easy templates which allow up to three photo...

Yesterday, I discussed that our ministry partners want to hear from us and suggested how to get started.  Today, I will post ways you can stay in touch and hope our readers have more to share, too.  I will actually keep some of this sketchy if I feel I could write a post about it later.  When I do publish more material, I will add the links here.

Establish your own system and goals.  I have “tweaked” our system over the years, but here’s what I do now:

TntMPD ideas for keeping in contact

(I recommend using TntMPD to manage what you are doing for people.  I really could not effectively do most of what I will list below without the functions of TntMPD.)

I keep current with the thank you note tasks generated by TntMPD.  (Future post)

We try to write varied prayer letters in a personal tone every six weeks.  Midway between prayer letters, we send an eNewsletter. (I will have more content on e4e about sending email newsletters. For now, see this post.)

All donors receive a family-designed Christma...
