My office is located on the 5th floor at Holy City Center building. Always via the window I see the beautiful mountains and green areas which surrounds Northern Addis.

The words of Isaiah 40:9 have been a very real picture:

“You who bring good news, go up on a high mountain.
You who bring good news,
lift up your voice with a shout,
lift it up, do not be afraid;
Say to the towns, ‘Here is your God!’”

God was telling them to use what he had provided to accomplish his purposes. Use the high mountains to shout “Here is your God!”

During our time as God’s ambassador’s, God has given us the gift of the Internet: social networks (Facebook, Twitter), simple websites (WordPress, Blogger), video and audio (YouTube, Vimeo), inexpensive phone (Skype).

God is telling us:

  • Use these things God has provided
  • Lift up your voice. Be bold. Be “loud” in embracing these opportunities.
  • Do not be afraid
  • Show God to everyone

Unless you’re shooting pictures professionally, your digital camera’s photos are most likely stored in jpg format and are probably over  2MB in size.  (Don’t worry about that number.  All  you have to know is, GB is enormous, MB is still very large, and KB is manageable).

How Large Photos Affect What You’re Doing

If you use your photo, as is, from your camera, you may experience the following:

  1. The photo  will clog up your storage for emails or may contribute to filling up your friend’s inbox.  It seems, though, that email providers are giving us more room for our bloated correspondence (I’m guilty, too.  My inbox is too full!)
  2. When you use that photo in a newsletter and send it to your printer, it groans under the weight of all that digital information and you impatiently wonder why it takes so long to get your letters printed.
  3. Over a long period of time blogging happily with multiple photos per post, you could conceivably use up your media storage for your blog.  If you want plenty of room for ...

A great photo attracts readers to read your blog post, but how do you get them to come visit you and engage in conversation in the first place?

One of the best ways to find readers is to write on the subjects that everyone is talking about currently.

What’s trending?

As I write this post, popular topics are related to Hurricane Irene, the U. S. Open, and Gadhafi.   (As you know, an earthquake and a hurricane hit the East Coast this past week.  Did you turn this topic into a spiritual conversation on your blog, on Facebook, or on Twitter?)

If you don’t know what topics are popular, go to:

  • Google Trends to discover what the current top Google searches are.
  • Nibbo  for trending topics on Google, Bing, Twitter, and more (try the options and search specific languages and countries, too.)
  • What the Trend shows what’s trending on Twitter and why.  You can  narrow the trends down to specific countries and cities.  They’ll also send trend alerts to you through Twitter and / or to your Facebook news feed if ...
