I’m sure you’ve heard the internet compared to the Roman Road of New Testament times.  Also, English might be compared to the Greek of New Testament times (we have an advantage with online translators, too, like Babel Fish). God used this Roman technology and a common language to advance the Gospel. Increasingly, the internet is where people go with their questions about God. Of course, all true believers desire to glorify God and love people into His kingdom. (That’s why you’re reading this post, isn’t it?) Have you asked yourself what are you doing now or what could you prayerfully consider learning so you are ministering to more people more effectively using the tech tools available to you? As part of Human Trafficking Awareness Day, Zach Hunter and Compassion International are hosting a Twitter chat about human trafficking. If you have questions about human trafficking, use #HumanTrafficking from 9-10 EST (New York City time) on January 11, 2012.

I learned about today’s efforts from one of our staff family’s teens.  To support awareness, she’ll be wearing  the same dress every day for a year, starting today, Human Trafficking Awareness Day.

Authenticity.  Transparency.  Transformational community.  There are many ways to describe real, raw, life-changing ministry as it takes place in the context of relationship.  But what if we experience that same life-changing ministry from the comfort of our computers?  This is a question I thought I fleshed out fairly well by blogging through my thoughts on God and life.  As I consistently posted those thoughts, I received messages via Facebook, Twitter, or simply from friends who shared how God used my blog to minister to them.  And I comfortably camped out there for a while, feeling fine with the status quo.

Then one day the Lord convicted me to blog with more authenticity and more transparency in order to experience greater transformational community, virtual or not.  So I dug deeper, writing posts from the depth of my weathered soul.  I wrote in the midst of my sin, without dressing it up or justifying it.  I wrote from the reality of my hang-ups.  I wrote from the brokenness of my heart. ...
