On February 4th, I decided to add a new feature, ClustrMaps, which tracks visitors to three of my blogs and helps me know what countries my readers are from.  Within just three weeks, I could see that I had visitors from every continent to one of my popular blogs, The Sovereign!  (Click here to see the list of countries.  This blog has had 12,500 visitors since December of 2006.)

I also look at WordPress statistics to see what people are reading.  I am using the list of countries from ClustrMaps and the statistics from WordPress to plan more evangelistic links and some future foreign language translations for the most visited posts.  For instance, two popular pages on our Family News blog, “God Knows Who You Should Marry” has had over 500 readers and “When Your First Child Leaves Home for College,” over 300.  In these true stories, I point my visiting readers to God.  This summer, I am hoping to get at least a Spanish and a German translation of these articles, and more, if my family and fri...

Wow!  Ink cartridges sure are pricey!  And let’s face it, ministry does cost money when you look at the cost of hardware, software, internet service, etc.

I hope this post will help you particularly with your printing costs.

Printers

If you will be buying a printer, this calculator will help you discover the true cost of operating a printer depending on your ink usage.

Cartridges

I use brand name cartridges, but you can save a lot with off brands.  Visit this printer ink review site for help.  You will just need to determine if the quality of the printing is affected  by using a generic.  If so, is this change in quality important for the kind of printing you do?

Don’t believe that “low ink” warning.  I use a “fast draft” setting for most of my unimportant printing and continue printing for maybe three times longer than my indicator says.  I wait until the ink actually is used up.  Also, according to September’s Reader’s Digest, you can try shaking a cartridge when the printouts are streaky. I hav...

Here I am, as promised, so you can start working on getting Easter cards (or other holiday cards) in the mail to your donors.

If you do not have birthday and/or anniversary information for your donors, co-workers, or friends, you could send Valentines, Easter, Thanksgiving, and/or Christmas cards. The easiest thing to do, is to divide your mailing list into these four groups, then everyone would at least receive one card.

Managing the Groups Using TntMPD

Again, my recommendation for managing names and addresses is to download TntMPD.  (Read more)

You will need to take a little bit of time to set up your groups. Here’s a simple way to get started:

  • Find all the people who have donated in the past two years.  (Start at Step 5 in this TntMPD tutorial) Now “Contacts” contains only this subset of names.
  • Click on the Groups button just under the Contacts button.
  • Follow these directions to make a new group.  Your donors will be in the fourth panel.
  • Use “Add All” and make a group category of Greeting Cards an...

My inbox is 500 emails strong and growing. . . and that’s just one of my email accounts! I decided I needed to do something differently and found this video by Merlin Mann of the blogs 43 Folders, about “finding the time and attention to do your best creative work” and Inbox Zero about getting your life back!

You really only need to watch half of Merlin’s practical talk, about 30 minutes. If you would rather read something, “Yes You Can Stay On Top of Email” by Michael Hyatt covers basically the same concept. These men do offer additional tips, so I recommend both the video and the article. I’m keeping this short so you can get started.

I also recommend Xobni, a free add-on, as a search tool for Outlook.

What are you doing to manage your email?
