I wasn’t willing and I knew it. I kept my window seat as our new traveling companion sat down in the aisle seat next to my husband. She smiled warmly when we introduced ourselves and several times later during the three-hour flight. I had some things to do, but if I had been open to God’s leading, I would’ve offered her the window seat right away when she arrived so I could then sit next to her, chat, and find out her interest in spiritual things. I knew God was speaking to me in my heart and mind and yet I didn’t follow His leading.

A week later, we were returning home on a 757 and I was sitting by the window again. As usual, I preferred to do some things during the flight, but at the same time I didn’t want to repeat what happened on the previous flight. We watched as dozens of travelers walked past us and the third seat remained empty. More than twenty minutes later, Sananda arrived. We introduced ourselves, but I stayed in my seat, with my husband sitting between Sananda and myself. Sh...

Did you know April 29th is Internet Evangelism Day?  In fact, the entire month of April is Digital Outreach Month.

Are you doing anything on the internet to reach out to people with the love of Christ? Whether or not you already are, why not pick up a new idea this week?

  • Learn more about Internet Evangelism Day and find a lot of ideas and great resources (see important notes about free downloads this week and a chance to win two books).
  • Curt signed up to be an online missionary with Global Media Outreach. Have you?
  • Did you know you can specifically request to answer eMails received from women who are seeking God?
  • Check out these creative ideas from EveryStudent.com for sharing your faith.  (I’ll make myself accountable to you, I’m very interested in trying this idea in particular: it’s a mini-survey where you gather eMail addresses and send requested evangelistic articles to people.)

As a staff member I had a good idea of the importance of communicating with supporters. Now, as a former staff member turned supporter, I can tell you how truly important it is. The more we know what’s going on the more likely we are to be consistent with our support. And in addition to words, we want to see pictures.

During my 10-plus years as a photographer with Worldwide Challenge I always included photos in my prayer letters. It was important then, but it’s even more so now. Images are everywhere, so they need to be in with your communications with your supporters. That’s true whether you’re sending a prayer letter or just making updates on Facebook.

Because of the popularity of photography and its importance in communicating with supporters, I want to see staff take better photos. Better photos stand out and grab your donors’ attention, making your ministry more visible to them.

At least once a month I’ll be posting a photo tip of the month giving staff ideas on how to improve their photography. Some...

In July 2010  I started the “Pray Africa” Facebook page as a platform for evangelism for African Facebook users.  The purpose of the page is  to expose people to Jesus, to nurture their spiritual growth and to encourage Christians to share their faith on Facebook. Currently there are about 15,830 members on “Pray Africa” with a circle of friends of 3.7 Million people and a viral monthly reach of more than 100,000 people.

The response I am getting from “Pray Africa” page is incredible.

On the Facebook page there are requests for

  • Prayer
  • Forgiveness
  • Invitation to receive Jesus Christ
  • Discussion on spiritual topics  just as you may face it when you try to share the gospel with someone face-to-face.

Here are some examples of requests and responses:

“Pray Africa thank you for showing me the way to contact and make a personal relationship with God” ….. Glory be to God.

“Jesus, could You please answer my prayers about finding the right job and learning how to belong. Help me to not be afraid a...
