“How ya doin’, God?” laughed the man.

He continued with his loud, scoffing remarks as I quickly walked away. I had given “Would You Like To Know God Personally?” to this clerk in the electronics section of Wal-Mart.

Don’t be afraid to encounter the scoffers. The blessings of encountering receptive people FAR outweighs any negative experiences.

In handing out tracts more consistently to hundreds of people for about a decade, only four people refused my offer of a booklet and they did so politely. The vast majority accept it and many of those people are even enthusiastic. The man at Wal-Mart was making a scene and is the only negative experience I have had in over thirty years of witnessing.

I realize the people in your part of the world may be less open. . . even hostile.

I hope this excerpt from page 150 in The Move of the Holy Spirit in the 10/40 Window by Luis Bush and Beverly Peques is an encouragement to you:

“… believers in a church in a North African nation used to meet discreetly, fearing...

[Today’s post is part of a monthly series featuring Keynote alumni in their current roles.]

When Ben Knox participated in the 2001 Keynote Summer Project, he had only been walking with God for about a year. Not only was Ben young in his faith, but he had just finished his freshman year of college. Keynote offered him an opportunity to use his incredible gifts of singing and performing, but God had a lot more in store for Ben that summer.

One of the strong aspects of the Keynote Summer Project is individual discipleship with the students. The students also meet with their bands/teams for Bible study each week. These elements set the stage for Ben to grow by leaps and bounds during the summer.

“[Keynote] was my first major involvement in anything ministry-related. I grew a TON that summer. I also discovered that type of ministry wasn’t the right long-term fit for me, but I was still itching for ministry opportunities, so I kept exploring other possibilities. I ended up going to Kenya with Student Ventur...

Everyone has a story. Some are quite dramatic. God writes each. The story He writes in our lives intersects with His story of redemption. Identifying that story can help us tell others about God’s hope, redemption and love. Helping people uncover God’s story in their lives is part of Keynote’s communication training.

On a recent communication-training trip to Guatemala, Keynote’s three-person team worked with Campus Crusade for Christ staff members who give leadership to over 2,000 volunteers throughout the country. Marielena, veteran speaker and Campus Crusade staff member from Panama, completed the training team as a communications trainer.

During the training a number of the trainees began to uncover compelling stories that God had been writing in their lives. Telling their stories to the class allowed them to see how God can use their stories to impact lives in their country. One of the trainees has a vision to train 100 students in communication and equip 25 of them to become communication trai...

As we begin a new year, we would greatly appreciate your prayers. Here are some prayer requests for 2012 representing Keynote’s three outreach lanes and our opportunities to minister internationally.

Digital Media Resources: Reaching the digitally-native generation with the gospel of Christ through social media and mobile technology.

  • Pray for us to partner and teach well as we seek to resource and empower ministry leaders to do evangelism and discipleship through digital strategies and tools.
  • Pray for the team as they strive to be on the forefront of ever changing technologies and continue with existing projects such as MissionHub (an online follow-up system) and God Tools (smartphone app).
  • Pray that we will connect with the right people as we continue to offer MissionHub to other ministries, and that as we make changes to meet the needs of users, each step would move us forward and not break things that had been working.
  • Pray for us as we update God Tools and translate it into multiple languages....

God is doing remarkable things through Keynote and has blessed our ministry abundantly this year. He has given us opportunities to share His message with over 36,000 people all over the world, and see 2,884 people indicate a decision to receive Christ. Here are just a few of Keynote’s ministry highlights from 2011:

  • In Guatemala Keynote experienced multiplication: Keynote trained Panamanian Campus Crusade for Christ staff in communication in 2008. In 2010 we equipped Guatemalan and Panamanian Campus Crusade staff to be comm coaches, and these three coaches joined Keynote as instructors and coaches to train 23 CCC staff and student leaders in Guatemala in April 2011.
  • Stop on Green partnered with Bridges of Hope International and The Disciples (a break dancing group made up of ex gang members) in El Salvador for outreach concerts where they saw 30 people indicate decisions for Christ. They also had an opportunity to build a home for an impoverished family.

  • 49 people attended Keynote’s Comm Lab to impr...
