The iPad’s split keyboard has hidden buttons. If you like to reach over to type t, y, h, g, b, or v on a QWERTY keyboard, then you might like to use this feature.  You can pull or push the keyboard to enable or disable the split or use the “toggle keyboard” button in the lower right to use a menu.

NOTE:  If you’ve read this blog for any time, you know I don’t use Apple products, but I DO try to find help for those of you who do.  Maybe this blog, Finer Things in iOS, will have some helpful tips for you.  Click on a topic in the black bar across the top of the blog to fine-tune your search for iPhones, Macs, or whatever.  I found the image and information about the split keyboard here.

Here’s a great ministry idea to easily mix a video with just your iPhone (or comparable device).

What you’ll need

A mobile device with a front and back camera.  A mirror and your holder.  The oak “mixer” stand is a bit pricey, especially if you think you could make your own holder for the camera and mirror.  (It looks like the mirror is at a 45 degree angle behind the camera.)

Why would you want to do this?

People enjoy searching for and sharing videos. No surprise, then, that YouTube is the internet’s second-largest search engine. These homemade, three-minute, no-frills videos are popular and your digital camera gives you an easy and affordable way to produce these kinds of videos.  You may already be using videos  effectively to communicate on Facebook, blogs, and more. Using a homemade “mixer” like this also means you don’t have to learn how to use software to mix your video.  That might be a big plus for you.

What if you used this “mixer” to:

  1.  have a conversation with a disciple to share with...

I’m sure you’ve heard the internet compared to the Roman Road of New Testament times.  Also, English might be compared to the Greek of New Testament times (we have an advantage with online translators, too, like Babel Fish). God used this Roman technology and a common language to advance the Gospel. Increasingly, the internet is where people go with their questions about God. (You might want to take two minutes to watch Kimberly’s story to see our model of win-build-send in one young women’s life.)

Of course, all true believers desire to glorify God and love people into His kingdom. (That’s why you’re reading this post, isn’t it?) Have you asked yourself what are you doing now or what could you prayerfully consider learning so you are ministering to more people more effectively using the tech tools available to you? (According to the video, all the people of the world may have access to the internet by 2015.)

  • Do you want to find ways to share your faith with your Facebook friends?
  • Have you considered st...

Where do you go when you have questions about your faith? While many people check out a church or talk to friends, some people run to the internet when they have questions. That’s why Keynote continues to create tools that help people who are searching for God online find the answers they need. We were thrilled to hear about a student named Taryn, who came to Christ through a Google search. Taryn recently shared her story at a winter conference for college students put on by Cru. Here’s a bit of her story:

Jesus hadn’t always intrigued Taryn. She had a great life growing up in Orange County with her Jewish mom and culturally Christian dad and saw no need for God. It wasn’t until high school that she even became curious about Him.

“In high school, I found myself in a group of friends that included what I like to call a ‘super Christian’. She was everything I imagined a Christian to be: super into church, never said a cuss word…and I couldn’t stand her. But, oddly enough, over time we bec...
