Bing Travel makes searches easier in order to help you for that upcoming trip, including a currency converter, finding the best prices for airlines and hotels, maps, and more.  After you go to bing.com, click on Travel in the links across the top.  You can choose flights or hotels to quickly find what you’re looking for.  The indicators even let you know if the prices are going up or down. (Or, here’s their link for Destinations which also includes flights and hotels for specific cities.)

Check out these recommended travel sites from Bing’s editors:

It’s easy to read books on your computer or mobile device. Especially if you travel or like to have something to read while waiting for appointments, reading  on the go can be a great way to catch up with books.

Classics

Many classic books are in the public domain and available for free.  Correct me if I’m wrong, but the books I see on internet sites seem to be in PDF format (which is okay – see note) while your local library may offer the book in a more readable eBook format.

Free eBooks from Bloggers

Bloggers and other internet sites may offer free eBooks, like Michael Hyatt of Thomas Nelson publishers.  He offers Creating a Personal Life Plan if you sign up for eMail updates to his blog (which I recommend).

Are you offering a free book from your site?

But I don’t have a Kindle

Not a problem.  Amazon wants you to buy their eBooks, so they offer a free app. You don’t need to own a Kindle; you can read Kindle books on your desktop, laptop, smartphone, or tablet, using...

Samsung unveiled their new Galaxy Beam phone at a conference in Barcelona this week.  It’s just a bit bigger than a mobile phone and pricey at this point. (I only saw it for sale on one website for $800.)

So, let’s dream a bit while we wait for the price to come down.

What can this phone do?

  • Projects videos, PowerPoints, and more, up to 50 ” wide (1.2 m) in high definition
  • Runs in a loop
  • Has a battery life of three hours and should last for two years
  • Needs a speaker accessory to project the sound for a large group

How could it be used for ministry now or in the future?

  • Show the Jesus film and/or short films (see first note)
  • Do a PowerPoint presentation for a team meeting on a retreat
  • Show a short video for MPD at a mission board meeting
  • And obviously, go just about anywhere (see first note)

What ideas do you have?

At the young age of four years, YouVersion has had 30 million downloads of its mobile version of the Bible (FYI: 30 million is more than all the Peruvians in Peru!)  The downloads have actually been available in less than four years because YouVersion started as a free, online Bible before expanding to iPhones in April 2008 and other devices later.

If you haven’t already installed YouVersion on your mobile device, download YouVersion (for free) for your:

Travelling overseas?  You could have the Bible in their heart language on your phone!

NOTES:

  • The complete infographic is fascinating.  Philipians 4:6 is the second-most shared and the number one bookmarked verse (“Don’t worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God.”)
  • The image and information are on YouVersion’s blo...
