My office is located on the 5th floor at Holy City Center building. Always via the window I see the beautiful mountains and green areas which surrounds Northern Addis.

The words of Isaiah 40:9 have been a very real picture:

“You who bring good news, go up on a high mountain.
You who bring good news,
lift up your voice with a shout,
lift it up, do not be afraid;
Say to the towns, ‘Here is your God!’”

God was telling them to use what he had provided to accomplish his purposes. Use the high mountains to shout “Here is your God!”

During our time as God’s ambassador’s, God has given us the gift of the Internet: social networks (Facebook, Twitter), simple websites (WordPress, Blogger), video and audio (YouTube, Vimeo), inexpensive phone (Skype).

God is telling us:

  • Use these things God has provided
  • Lift up your voice. Be bold. Be “loud” in embracing these opportunities.
  • Do not be afraid
  • Show God to everyone

As one church leader said, inhabit the digital universe with a believing he...

This tutorial will help you create a “Back to Top” link on a page in two easy steps, using named anchors.  (Don’t worry, it’s not that difficult.  If Emmeline du Faur could scale Mount Cook in New Zealand, you can do this!) You’ll be able to “jump” from linked text at the bottom of a web page to return to the top of the page. Hopefully, your blogging platform allows you to write HTML when you need to.

You can see a “Back to Top” feature on Our Blogrolls page.  The A to Z list on the page is a more complex version of the same type of code, which uses anchors or bookmarks.  (I explain how to code an A to Z list here.)

Step One: Make sure you are on the HTML version of your post and paste this anchor code at the very beginning of  your blog.

<a name=”top”></a>

Step Two: Paste this code at the bottom of the page:

<a href=”#top”>BACK TO TOP</a>

That’s all there is to it!

You’ll notice, only the words, “BACK TO TOP” show up for your reader.  All the instructions are invisible to them.  Click th...

I’ll admit it.  I resisted for a while.

We had a system for keeping track of reimbursements.  We wrote our ministry and medical mileage in a notebook we kept in the glove compartment and I put all our reimbursement receipts in a folder.  My husband would then use the folder every few months or so to submit a reimbursement.  We’d occasionally miss something that was older than the ninety-day limit.

Then, Mike started using the online reimbursement function on the Staff Web after it came out.  A year or so later, he asked if I would submit our reimbursements online.  Well, I didn’t want to change what we were doing and thought it would be “one more thing to do.”

Now, it’s my preferred way to submit reimbursements.   I’m actually the one who probably knows what needs reimbursing.  It was also logical for me to enter our expenses and mileage online soon after they occurred instead of trying to remember everything later.   We rarely go past the ninety-day limit any more.   Also, when ...

THANK YOU to everyone who participated in and helped with our events and who were involved in mentoring at CSU2011!

Almost three dozen women helped in some way to make these opportunities a blessing to others.  Judy gave away two free Kindles in a drawing from over 100 women who took part in some way.  Continue reading to learn what’s next.

The Meet and Greet

Our first event brought together authors and bloggers and anyone interested in reading and publishing.  More than sixty women came.  We announced our new Global Staff Women site and gave away free books as door prizes.

If you attended, but didn’t leave a message at our help desk number, please call or text to let us know you came.

Enjoy photos from the meet-and-greet.

Break-outs

I scheduled two “table top discussions” with about a dozen coming to each.  I’ll continue to be in touch with anyone who’s interested in:

  • evangelistic blogging, and
  • social media as a ministry.

Click to see three pictures from our discussions.

Mentoring

A special thanks ...
